Queer Peace

Queer Peace International (QPI) has entered the scene of international peace-building consortiums. Queer people (lesbian, gay men, bisexual, trans-identified, straight allies, questioning) have a proven interest and history in peace-building initiatives. From working in solidarity with other minority groups on Pride, to providing training to each other on differing topics such as democratic leadership or organizational networking. These non-political initiatives are needed to build ourselves and our presence worldwide. QPI also engages in discussion, with providing study sessions on exploring what “Queer Peace” means in present day, and how it contextually varies. Already, it has members from around the world who have freely joined this online consortium to offer resources, ideas and discussions. As well, it sets a stage for a new realm of international development, where Queers can be sent to other regions to build emerging queer groups in more difficult circumstances through workshops and skills-building. Essentially, it is building peace and understanding that QPI focuses on.
